Inorganic lightfast dry pigments for general use. They are characterized by low cost, excellent light and weather resistance, high hiding power, high coloring power. Easily wetted and dispersed.

The concept of inorganic pigments and their varieties
Inorganic pigments are dyes that are extracted from certain metals and oxides. Methods for obtaining powdered pigments are different: thermal, mechanical, chemical. Outwardly, they are a dry powder of a certain color.

Each type of colorant has its own set of characteristics. Its main parameters are:

resistance to light - color retention under long-term exposure to direct sunlight;
coloring ability - the ability of a pigment to mix with pigments of other colors;
fire resistance - the ability to withstand high temperatures without changing color and structure;
anti-corrosion ability - the ability to endow the binder with an anti-corrosion effect;
resistance to weathering - the ability to maintain its original appearance in any weather conditions;
resistance to chemicals - the ability to retain color under the influence of chemicals and processes;
hiding power - material consumption per 1 square meter of surface;
fineness of grind - the finer the grind, the better coverage and coloring.

Depending on the raw material, the required color of the dye is obtained during processing. The table shows which elements correspond to certain colors:

Inorganic elements Color
Copper oxides Bright green, red, emerald
Chrome - Green
Antimony - Yellow
Cobalt Blue
Ultramarine Blue
Manganese - Purple, brown, yellow
Umber - Red-brown, green-brown
Iron oxides - Brown, red, yellow
Wan Dick - Brown
Mars - Light, dark brown
Ocher - Golden, light, dark yellow, red
Uranus - Yellow-green
Chalk - natural White
Iron red lead - brown-red
Manganese Peroxide - Black
Graphite - Gray
Glauconite - Green

To obtain new shades of pigments, they are subjected to heat treatment, or, as it is also called, calcination. So, after calcination, ocher, which gives a light yellow color, turns red, and natural umber, when calcined, creates a pigment with a burnt effect.

Mineral artificial pigments are produced by mixing 2-3 elements using chemical processes. Inorganic pigments have a stable and bright color, constant chemical composition and structure. Among the artificial mineral pigments, the following are distinguished:

Inorganic pigments Color
White zinc Bright white color with a blue tint
Red lead red
Chromium Oxide Green
Gas soot Black
Zinc Crown Lemon
Titanium Dioxide White
Lithopon White
There is another type - metallic pigments, which are a powder of a metal or an alloy of metallic elements. For example, a striking representative of the subspecies is aluminum powder, which looks like aluminum powder. Metallic pigments are used for decorative painting of metal products.

Applications of inorganic pigments
The variety of inorganic pigments is constantly growing. More and more new properties of chemical elements are being studied, new colors and shades are being discovered that have certain properties suitable for a certain type of work. Inorganic pigments are essential for making epoxy resin products - low pigment consumption gives you great flexibility in creating extraordinary effects
